Innovation Spotlight - Chicken Wing Flavored Lip Balm Weather

In the midst of midwinter skies and the reminders to keep up New Year’s Resolutions, the right collaboration comes along to remind us that anything is possible! Debuting January 17th and selling out within hours of release, the lip balm collaboration between Hidden Valley Ranch and Burt’s Bees featured a four flavor collection meant to be a “wing basket in balm form.” Thanks to unexpectedly positive feedback from last year’s April Fool’s joke, many at Hidden Valley saw the perfect opportunity to grant a wish that many ranch lovers did not realize they wanted.

“This delightfully unexpected union comes just in time for dry lip season and game day,” General Manager of Burt’s Bees Mariah Eckhard gleefully remarks. On the other side of the collaboration, Hidden Valley Ranch marketing director CC Ciafone is equally enthusiastic adding that "We are officially in wing eating season, which feels right at home for Hidden Valley Ranch. As we inch closer to the biggest wing consumption day of the year, we are looking forward to teaming up with Burt’s Bees for this never-been-done-before collab - and our first foray into the beauty category!"

The collaboration is an exciting kickoff to the creativity we can look forward to in other promotions leading up to the Super Bowl. With Hidden Valley’s own history of wild promotions including its lab-grown diamond engineered with a dash of ranch seasoning in 2022, we see a glimpse at what is at stake for brands vying for a place at your gameday table.
